VIRTUS® - Child Protection Program

The VIRTUS® Awareness Program is mandatory for all parish volunteers who have contact with children. This VIRTUS® Awareness Program must be completed as mandated by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati before June 30, 2014 to remain certified.
VIRTUS® is mandatory for any "regular volunteer," defined as an adult (e.g. a catechist, scout leader, coach, etc.) who has regular contact with children. Some examples include: any overnight event, continuous activity on a scheduled basis, any activity exceeding one hour, a multi-day program (e.g. Vacation Bible School) must be VIRTUS® certified.
To Register for VIRTUS®
STEP 1: Please contact Emily Weierman 24 to 48 hours before you begin to receive a pre-paid FASTRAX token for the Selection.com Background Check payment (if you were fingerprinted more than 5 years ago).
- The online background check replaces the need to be fingerprinted as required in the past.
- If you already have a VIRTUS® account, logon to your personal page, click on the "Toolbox" tab and then click on Selection.com Background Check link. This link will guide you through the background check process.
STEP 2: To register for a VIRTUS® training session to the VIRTUS® website, click on "Registration" and follow the directions to sign up for a session. Use the FASTRAX token to pay for the background check.
