The format for all ages is based on the RCL Faith First series.
The Faith First program provides a balance between Doctrine, Scripture, and the Liturgical Year.
These three important elements are interwoven throughout each grade level, and into the everyday life and experiences of the children.
- The Doctrines taught are drawn from the four pillars of faith (creed, worship and sacraments, morality, and prayer)
as presented in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
- Each unit has core Scripture chapters that include studying the Bible background and
reading a complete Scripture story.
- Learning about and celebrating the cycle of the Liturgical Year helps the children to enter into
the Pascal mystery, and to take part in the seasons more fully.
Faith First wants the children to understand what we believe as Christians, and how to live out those beliefs. Jesus taught us what to believe, and then showed us how to put those beliefs into practice.
This simple format is repeated throughout the Faith First program.
Once a month, the children are gathered together to hear the Scripture of the Sunday mass and are given an explanation geared to their grade level.
They are also taught new songs with motions at this time.
Every parent will be expected to sign up to assist in their child or children’s classroom
at least once during the year.
You and your children can both enjoy a visit to the Resources for Christian Living (RCL) website
