 This sacrament is also known as Confession, the Sacrament of Penance, or the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation.
First Reconciliation is offered only to those children who are baptized members of the Catholic Church, members of the parish, and attending the weekday Religious Education program. Parents are required to attend a presentation on the sacrament.
First Reconciliation is offered twice each fall.
"Those who approach the sacrament of Penance obtain pardon from God's mercy for offense committed against Him, and are, at the same time, reconciled with the Church which they have wounded by their sins and which by charity, by example, and by prayer labors for their converstion." [Catechism of the Catholic Church #1422]
