Education Ministries

Religious education for children and adults is a high priority at Good Shepherd. Growing in faith is a life-long journey of learning, devotion, service, and spiritual nourishment. Good Shepherd has programs to nurture and strengthen everyone on this journey.

Education Commission

Oversees adult and youth education programs offered by the parish.

Children's Faith Formation

Children's Religious Education provides teaching opportunities in Preschool, Children's Liturgy of the Word, Vacation Bible School, and Weekly Faith Formation. Gifts and talents needed include a willingness to share your faith with others, the ability to relate to children, and to recognize and nurture the gifts of children. It also requires patience, energy, and joy in being around children. Time commitment varies with ministry selected.

Adult Formation

Adult Formation provides learning opportunities for adults in Faith Connection Gatherings, Day of Blessings, We Believe, Book Discussion Group and Bible Study. Gifts and talents needed are a willingness to share your faith with others, an eagerness to deepen one's own faith, and the ability to help others grow in faith. Time commitment varies by session selected, and as indicated by parish calendar.

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)

A sacramental formation process that prepares individuals to live out the life of a Catholic Christian. RCIA is available to anyone who is of the age of reason, including children, who wishes to enter the Catholic Church.

Sacramental Preparation

Sacramental Preparation provides teaching and mentoring opportunities for adults assisting candidates for the Sacraments of Baptism, First Eucharist, First Reconciliation, Confirmation and Marriage. Gifts and talents needed include a joy with working with people of all ages, the ability to relate and prepare people to receive the Sacraments, and knowledge of Catholic faith. Time commitment varies depending on the Sacrament.
