Sacramental Preparation

A dynamic joint journey of faith for volunteers who enjoy interacting with children, teens, and adults, and who desire to prepare people to receive the grace of the Sacraments and a deep understanding of our Catholic Faith.

Parental involvement is needed for sacramental preparation for Baptism, First Eurcharist, First Reconciliation, and Confirmation. Couple involvement is needed for sacramental preparation for Marriage through the Marriage Enrichment formation program.

To join any of these ministries, complete our quick ministry participation form.

Baptism
Baptism is the first of three sacraments of initiation, and the beginning of a person's lifelong faith journey. Baptism instruction classes are held on the first Sunday afternoon of each month. Opportunities exist in preparing families for the Sacrament of Baptism, and if desired, help in coordination of the actual Baptism ceremony.

Confirmation
This Sacrament is received in the spring. Adults teach classes focusing on the theology of Confirmation with examination of basic beliefs of Catholicism. Volunteers help interview candidates two weeks before their first night of class, and before receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. Volunteers need a genuine desire to work with high school students, a general understanding of the Catholic faith, and a willingness to share one's own personal faith with youth. Classes are held weekly from September through April.

Marriage
Married couples help join a man and a woman on their journey of faith together. Engaged couples receive time from a married couple in order to discuss the FOCCUS instrument as a preparation of marriage. Discussion takes 2-4 sessions of approximately two hours to complete. Volunteer couple must be living a Christian marriage, receive training in FOCCUS, and possess individual skills in listening and facilitation.
