Habitat for Humanity

We work together with congregations of other churches to negotiate on behalf of the disadvantaged people in our region, particularly the poor.

Members of this ecumenical Christian ministry seek to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.

Good Shepherd volunteers join with volunteers from six other churches in the Sycamore area to build homes with partner families who must invest hundreds of hours of sweat equity. Houses are sold at no profit and are financed with no interest loans. House payments enter a revolving fund used to build more homes.

All skill levels and ages are welcome. Besides construction tasks, volunteers are needed to prepare and deliver lunches, provide counseling to partner families and handle administrative tasks. People under 16 need to be accompanied by an adult.
