In 2003, the Gift Sharing ministry led a listening initiative in the parish. As a result, participating staff members and parishioners developed a Website Wish List. A group of volunteer individuals then came together to form a website improvement team which evolved into a year-long effort, not to redesign the then-current Good Shepherd site, but to build a whole new site reflective of the spirit that is Good Shepherd .
The web team and many other volunteer groups and individuals spent countless hours researching, learning, creating, discussing, debating, writing, and editing. Drawing from ideas and suggestions from the parish community, the Wish List, and pulling useful portions of the original website, the team approached the project prayerfully, with a simple goal: develop a website that is truly useful, intuitively functional, and most importantly, conveys the spirit that is Good Shepherd.
As a result, we have a website that is a tremendous source of pride for The Community of the Good Shepherd and one that will serve our online parishioners.
Credit goes to entire teams of parishioners, staff members and individuals who invested long hours to create the descriptions and explanations that constitute the content of this site.
The website team included:
William "Henry" Mangan
Henry's vast experience with the Gift Sharing listening initiative project provided great insight for what the parish community desired in a website. Henry led the team, keeping the group focused on a site structure that would best serve the needs of the parish community today and for the future. His passion and enthusiasm for the project was contagious.
Linda Wolf
Linda brought tremendous technical know-how to the project. While providing creativity and ideas, her years of experience in website development kept the group grounded in the technical reality of what could be accomplished.
Van White
Van's skills as an artist and photographer laid the ground work for the visual elements of the site. As the official photographer for the site Van photographed the staff, selected most of the spectacular imagery found throughout the website, and created the facilities schematic and directions map.
Charles "Chuck" Janis
Chuck served as project manager for the individual tasks assigned to the group throughout the process. He oversaw the research and compilation of the many Catholic and church-related links found in the Resources section.
Kelly Kalb
Kelly represented the staff at each of the team meetings, making sure that the vision, ministry and practical needs and outcome of the parish were met. His years of experience maintaining the parish website were put to good use in every phase of development.
Mary Helen Olszewski
In the final stages of the project, Mary Helen, former Director of Communications for Good Shepherd, added her skills as editor. Her high level of accuracy and attention to detail enhance the professionalism of the finished product.
